Ringing in the new year with a surprise visit

On New Years Eve, just before our residents settled down for a celebratory lunch in the dining room, we received a surprise visit from one of Devon’s best loved public figures.

It was the Tavistock Town Crier!

Dressed in his full red and gold regalia with his large red hat, the Crier caused quite a stir as he marched through the home ringing his bell and bellowing the words, ‘o yea, o yea , o yea.’

The staff were as surprised by his visit as the residents were, and we all enjoyed the impromptu end of year visit.

What a way to ring in 2019 and the Town Crier’s visit is just another example of the fun experiences we encourage here at our Devonshire Care home.
