Nostalgia running high at Hart Care tea parties
Over the last few weeks, our Devonshire care home has been abuzz with the sound of clinking china and kettles whirring as we’ve introduced weekly tea parties for the residents.
Katie, the home’s manager, has invested in some ‘old fashioned’ china saucers and cups, teapots and an elegant cake stand that evokes plenty of happy memories for our residents.
One of Katie’s more impressive finds came in the form of a working gramophone. The distinctive crackle of the needle hitting the Doris Day & Julie Andrews records has helped turn these weekly tea ‘parties’ into tea ‘dances’, with many of the residents taking to dining room floor to strut their stuff.
The tea parties have been so well received that they’ve become a staple on the already jam packed activities calendar and we’re looking forward to next week for more of the same civilised fun.
Considering Hart Care for yourself or a loved one?
These tea parties are just one example of the types of fun activities we organise for our residents each day. At Hart Care, we believe regular mental and physical stimulation helps keep the mind young, even when your body is not what it used to be.
